Welcome to BET

Welcome to Bourne Education Trust, and to your first official day as part of our organisation. I am delighted that you have joined our growing family of colleagues who are committed to making a difference for our young people, their families and the wider communities we serve.

We are proud of the expertise, care and professionalism of our staff, and we are committed to looking after you so that you can do your best work for our children and families. Collaboration, openness and mutual support sit at the heart of how we work; no school and no colleague is ever on their own.

As you settle in, you will find many opportunities to grow, contribute and lead - whether that’s through professional development, working with colleagues across the Trust, or shaping the life of your own school. We want you to feel valued, listened to and empowered to make a difference.

To access all the information you need about your new staff benefits, payroll documents and more, please use the tabs below.

BET is led by a Board of Trustees and an Executive team. You can find more details about them on our website: www.bourne.education.

Every BET school benefits from the following day-to-day contacts:

  • An Education Director, who will work with your school on the quality of education and facilitate cross-Trust collaboration both geographically within your cluster, and across phases
  • A Management Accountant, who will support your school business manager and finance colleagues, particularly in the early days after you join us and as you familiarise with our financial and payroll systems and processes; and then on a monthly basis thereafter
  • A Regional Service Delivery Manager (RSDM), who will support your school’s strategic plan to enhance IT, usually over a three-year rolling programme, and facilitate the delivery of this over the period
  • An Estates Project Manager, who will support your school’s planning and preventative maintenance programme, and facilitate support with health and safety compliance
  • A People Partner, who will support your Headteacher, school business manager and HR colleagues as they implement our people policies and procedures

In addition, we have a range of other education and business colleagues who can help with compliance, data management, marketing, SEND, safeguarding and other priorities, and will also put you in touch with others across the Trust so that you can share experiences and practice.

Here’s a short YouTube video from Edupay that tells you more about our payroll and HR system:

You will receive a welcome email which will give details of how to access your account. Please do check your junk / spam folder in case the email goes missing. Your school business manager will let you know when the emails have been sent so that you can look out for them.

Things to check when you log in:

  • Are your personal details correct?
  • Do we have the correct National Insurance Number recorded?
  • Are your bank details accurate?
  • Have you given us your ethnicity and disability status?
  • If you are unsure about anything on your account, please contact your school business manager and ask for help.

The Edupay set up guide, Edupay App guide and a short guide to updating your ethnicity and disability status will be circulated with this document. We will also offer some staff training on how to use Edupay once it has been launched in your school.

Pay day

Pay day is the 23 of each month or the Friday before if the 23 falls on a weekend. This is the same across all BET schools. If you have timesheets for additional hours, or expenses, this also go through payroll and your school business manager will advise of deadlines for submitting these to make sure they are processed in time.

BET offers the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS) for teaching staff; and the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) for specialist staff.

When new staff join BET, they are automatically enrolled into the relevant pension scheme. If you wish to opt out of the pension scheme, you have three months from when you join BET in which to do so. Please speak to your school business manager if you’re unsure how to do this.

There are several policies that apply now that you have joined BET. All people policies have been made available to your Head and school business manager so that they can share them with you. The full list of employee related policies can be found at the back of this guide, and you will be asked to sign some of these now, and then annually in September moving forward.

Being a BET employee gives you access to a wide range of wellbeing resources and staff benefits through My Staff Shop. You can find out more by watching this short video:
