Message from the CEO, Alex Russell

I am very proud to be the CEO of Bourne Education Trust (‘BET’) and to work with like-minded and ambitious headteachers, system leaders and board members.
The Board of BET is determined to see a high-performing multi-academy trust that delivers the very best educational experience for our pupils and ensures that equality, diversity and inclusion permeate the organisation and inform everything we do.
As the educational landscape continues to evolve rapidly - with the expansion of AI, growing digitalisation, more schools converting to academies and greater consolidation between trusts - our focus remains unwavering: to create great schools in which every child can thrive.
The information on this website sets out how we plan, guide, support and improve our academies (and those yet to join), including how we prepare our pupils for the world of work in the 2030s. This means giving them a strong academic foundation but also equipping them with the digital, adaptive and creative skills they will need in an increasingly AI-enabled world.
We have built a cost-effective organisation and a business model that delivers efficiency, effectiveness and growing economies of scale, freeing up more resources for the front line. Alongside this, we are committed to sustainability - both in how we develop and manage our estates, and in how we teach pupils to understand their role in building a greener, more responsible future.
I am very fortunate to have a strong Board of Directors (Trustees) that provides the effective support and challenge required to ensure that the Trust is a good employer and, as a multi-academy trust, an effective home for our academies, with the leadership and track record to succeed.
It is often said that each child gets one chance at education. Our role is to ensure that every pupil in our schools makes the most of that opportunity, empowered by inspiring teaching, inclusive cultures, future-ready skills and ambitious expectations.
I look forward to an exciting future for the Trust and all its stakeholders.
Alex Russell, OBE
